The Next Mozart? 6-Year Old Piano Prodigy Wows All

A piano prodigy ? This kid, Emily is a born pianist and composer. Click on this video to find out more.

They say it’s better if you started learning the piano at a young age, but how many young children who had the chance to learn played well?

Very few. But like China’s Lang Lang, this kid would probably be the next.

Improvising like a pro, by Jennifer Lin

I chance upon this on Youtube. This is a performance, but not really an actual pre-arranged or pre-rehearsed performance. Jennifer Lin performs “randomly”. What I mean is, by improvising with a piano, which is slightly linked to composition (that’s how I did some of my songs that way.), she made her performance.

Using 5 chords, she made a lovely tune out of it, improvising on the spot. An audience picked the 5 chords before she actually performed it, and took a few moments before she starts her performance. Bravo to her and her improvisations.

Interviews from Lang Lang

Interesting interviews from Lang Lang, talk about his history, journeys about himself and his classical piano. It is a really different approach on classical music that he portrays. Oh, and his Adidas Sponsored ‘Lang Lang’ Shoes.

Turning classical Mozart into modern music

Normally you guys should have heard before Mozart’s Turkish march, the very famous classical piece that most of us would have at least heard it once, somewhere.

Fazil say, is by far one that impressed me, with this video. It was this video that made me learned more about him, look through his videos, and motivated me to learn that Mozart’s original piece (though I am still stucked at the first verse).

This piece here is slightly different, by Fazil himself, performed many times. But it still adds a different twist and taste to the original piece, played by a very very good pianist. Watch his video and you’ll understand.

Great isn’t it ? You should bookmarked and watch this video to inspire you to become better!

Youtube’s Symphony Orchestra Ambassador - Lang Lang

This video here is about Youtube’s Symphony Orchestra project, as well as our favorite pianist Lang Lang who is now the Ambassador promoting this event. It helps to bring together musicians across the world to perform an orchestra offline at home. Don’t know what the outcome will be, but let’s anticipate this event happening right at the comfort of our own home.

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence !

Why did I wish everyone Christmas ? So that we all can remind one another we are lucky enough to celebrate Christmas, more fortunate than others who can’t.

But that’s not really the point. My purpose here: Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence ! This is also one of the outstanding performances in my favorite list. Sometimes it is so hard to explain Music in words.

This is a piece, done by Ryuichi Sakamoto and his gang. Beautiful violin, a cello (or was a that a double bass?), in a live performance, very beautifully done.

There are other factors that made me love this video so much. From the way he sway his hair around, to the black backdrop, the shiny black piano and his outfit altogether. It just blends together. Not forgetting the trio music which is what music is all about.

Lastly, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone !!!

“Secret (fast version)” by Phoebus Chan

This is the piece “Secret” played in the movie titled “Secret / 不能说的秘密” by Jay Chou. In this movie, there’s a piece of piano music (there are alot of piano pieces) and if you play it slow, you will be brought to the future by 20 years.

And in order to return, you have to play it swiftly, in other words, fast. Also, it had to be played without any note errors, and only at a particular antique piano, so only the best of the best pianist will be able to do it.

Well that is just for the part on the movie. Here’s the piece by Phoebus Chan, in Hong Kong. Note that this is a faster version of the piece, and there’s a slight difference of the playing. Nevertheless it is still impressive.

Phoebus Chan Piano improvisations - 菊花台

This is another familiar piece in the chinese music scene. A song by Jay Chou for one of his movie titled “菊花台”, with ancient warriors fighting, and many Chrysanthemum flowers.

Piano improvisations nicely done by Phoebus Chan.

这又是一个华人音乐界熟悉的作品之一。这是周杰伦为他的影片“菊花台” 演唱的歌曲。 在这部影片有古代武士的战斗,和许多“菊花” 。

Phoebus Chan - 钢琴即兴做的很好!
