This is all about me:
Why I created this site? To be able to express feelings through singing with a piano.

How it all started
I started formal training on singing when I was 12 and that was in 1997. I was auditioned and joined the choir, led by Mr David Lim, who had retired. I had uncountable performance experiences since 1997. From 2001 to 2004, I continued to learn under Mr David Lim during my tertiary studies.
Some of the most unforgettable experiences were to perform for my school’s 10th year anniversary, competing in a national inter-school competition, performing in the youth festival, singing Christmas Carols in shopping malls and entertaining old folks during one of the home visits.
After 2004, being a teenager, I started singing mandarin songs by some of the more popular Asian artistes like Jay Chou and Lee Hom. Singing in karaokes was something very familiar for me, as i’ve been singing regularly since i was 5. It’s where I had my family gatherings. Due to the fact that I am formally trained, with good foundation, singing different genres is easy for me.
Learn piano at 21 ?
During 2006, I started picking piano skills by myself. I’ve gotten myself a portable Yamaha Keyboard. It started with simple accompliment of piano to more in depth studying into music theory. Then I step into genres like pop and classical pieces.
Being a fast learner, it took me only 6 months to read musical notations, understand chords structures, and song accompliments. More importantly it is the music background I had, the hearing ear, and the interest.

By using the skill called playing by ear, I started to figure out chords of a song. Thats when I got to do my homework.

And so this is the product of the videos you see at my youtube videos section.

A new beginning
During 2007, I went to another choir in SPH, one of the local media publisher’s company in Singapore. I went one step ahead here with this choir teacher, who had a PhD in music and vocal teaching. She is a professor in subjects of vocals. Unfortunately, she left a few months after I joined as she retires.
It was only until December 2007, I bought this Kawai Upright Grand Piano, and started practising at home seriously. Hoping one day I can be good at something, even when I am old.
Me and my Piano:

After taking serious considerations, I decided to take an ABRSM grade 5 theory exam. It took me only 3 months to prepare for this theory exam, skipping all the earlier grades. From this theory, I learn alot about choral performance, symphony and orchestral instruments, composing, chords structures and some other sight reading knowledge. This experience improved my overall ability towards music. The exam was held on Mar 2008, and I got a merit for it!
Joining a band
In June 2008, I went to join a band, as a keyboardist and a backup vocalist. All I wanted was to get a feel of a band, and whether if my skills were up. Indeed I was right, I wasn’t that bad. In fact, I think I did pretty well, using all the abilities learn throughout the years to make music.
At present
I will maintain this site with my Youtube Videos, which I will cut down on eventually. I will post all of the chords and lyrics of songs you see here on my site. There will also be piano tutorials which I am building on, to teach you the fundamentals of piano improvisations, removing all other unnecessary stuff required to do improvisations.
This piano is as old as me ![]()
